Billing Information

Charges

IWU does not charge a student for health care services. Many services and some over-the-counter medications are free and there is no charge to see a RN. However, appointments with the Nurse Practitioner will incur a charge. Some other services in which charges are incurred include, but are not limited to: lab work, allergy injections, rapid strep test, rapid mono test, rapid influenza test, urine tests, Pap tests, breathing treatments, TB tests and medications.

Insurance

IWU Health Center will bill to health insurance companies. It is important to be aware of health insurance coverage before a need arises. We encourage you to contact your health insurance company and find out how they handle coverage away from home (our Nurse Practitioner is Eileen Lennox, NP, BC). If any prior authorizations are required it is the responsibility of the parent or student to obtain the prior authorization before seeing the Nurse Practitioner. Students should be knowledgeable of how to use their health insurance including co-pays, network requirements, and what is covered while at college.

For the Health Center to file health insurance we require a copy of the front and back of the insurance card and the date of birth of the insured. Parents are notified by statement of the remaining balance after insurance has been filed. Often insurance companies will request information from you regarding full-time student status. Please do not ignore these requests as you are responsible for unpaid balances due to lack of information sent to the insurance company. We are always willing to assist you with any insurance questions you may have.
