 Golf Scramble Rules
Teams:
  • The scramble team shall be made up of four players. All current IWU students, faculty, staff , administrators, and spouses are eligible to participate.
  • The scramble team shall consist of a captain and three other players.
Rules of play:
  • In the scramble golf format, all players may tee off on every hole, but are not required to do so. Only one drive is selected on each hole.
  • If you have less than 4 players on your team you may not take an extra shot for the missing person/persons.
  • The team captain is the only player who may select the shot to be played.
  • Once a shot is selected, all other balls are out of play.
  • The other team members shall pick up their balls and place them within one club length (no closer to the hole) of the marked spot. Each team member shall hit his/her next shot from the chosen spot of the prior shot.
  • This procedure is followed on every shot for the remainder of the hole, including putts. The ball should be marked on the putting green as well.
  • Putts need to be made within 3 inches of the marked spot (no closer to the hole). The first ball to go in the hole is counted as the team score.
  • If a selected drive or other shot is not found, the team may return to the spot from which the shot was played and replay the shot. If the spot was a tee, the ball must be re-teed. The safe tactic is to mark all other drives until a questionable drive is found before selecting a shot to be played.
  • If the selected drive or other shot is in the woods, rough, a hazard, bunker or other condition other than the putting green or fairway, the person who hit the selected shot into that condition will, after marking the spot, play the shot from that spot without improving the lie or moving the ball.
  • If after a drop in the rough, woods, bunker, or other condition, the ball is in a condition, from which relief is allowed under the rules of golf or local rules (i.e. on a cart path, obstruction, etc.) relief may be taken as allowed under the rules of golf or allowed under local rules.
  • If a player putts and misses and continues to putt, all other first putts are out of play.
  • When the ball is holed, the captain will record the score. Scores must be recorded at the completion of each hole. At the completion of the round, the team captain must total the team score and certify its correctness. In addition, one other team member must attest to the correctness of the score. If the scorecard is incorrect, the team will be disqualified.
  • If there is a tie at the end of the round of play, the winner will be determined by a playoff beginning at the first hole, or if not possible, then the tenth hole, or if not possible a hole designated by the committee.
Golf etiquette:
  • Please smooth all marks made in sand bunkers.
  • Leave the putting green as soon as you have holed out.
  • Do not play until the players in front of you are out of range.
  • Balls may be cleaned on the green, and ball marks repaired prior to putting. You may not repair spike marks prior to putting.
  • Please observe all local course rules.
