Job Summary:
Work directly with the African American community to develop prospective student list
and to cultivate those prospective students. Represent IWU at various functions as
assigned. Correspond and work with various community groups to increase the
effectiveness of recruitment efforts. Assist the Regional Coordinator in other ways
as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contact all African American churches in Grant County
- Visit all African American youth groups and/or pastors in Grant County
- Work with Bobbie Owensby, teacher at Marion High School, and the Black History
Club at Marion High School
- Work with Lisa Williams, Social Worker at Marion High School, to find qualified
students
- Formulate a strategic plan to expand recuitment outside the Grant County area
- Contact Salem Baptist Church in Chicago and utilize enrolled students from Salem
Baptist for recuitment
- Develop a relationship with prospective students from Salem Baptist Church
- Serve on campus committee for Black History Month
- Maintain contact with prospective African American students through telecounseling
- Research the possibility of a Christian Service Team involving mostly African
American students
Goals:
- Matriculate six traditional students with at least three resident students.
- Matriculate four non-traditional students.
